We are thrilled to welcome Joshua Hebert as our Executive Chef!
Louisiana native and LSU graduate, Chef Joshua is no “newbie” to the kitchen. Growing up in Napoleonville, Louisiana he learned how to cook from both sides of his family – cajun from one side and down-home southern cooking from the other. Joshua jokes that as a child, he was in the kitchen so often, he was given the nickname “Potlicker.”
He started his culinary career in college, cooking for friends at LSU. Word quickly spread and he began catering private events. Ultimately the demand for his catering services grew to a point that allowed him to start his own catering business, which he has owned for the past 3 years. Prior to being hired as the Executive Chef at Portico, Chef Joshua worked under Chef Francisco at J. Alexander’s.
As Executive Chef, Joshua is focusing on a menu make-over for Portico. “You’ll notice that we’ve narrowed the scope of the menu and taken the most popular items and revamped them to make them more creative”, said Joshua. “We’ve also added a phenomenal brunch menu that you’re sure to love”, he continued.
In addition to revamping some of the old favorites, Joshua has added a few new items including the Lemon Shrimp Linguine, Roasted Citrus Salmon, Turkey Burger, and Fiery Fin. You’ll also notice a few more choices under the “sides” including Corn Maque Choux, Tasso Lime Black Beans, and Honey Almond Green Beans. Another sweet addition that you’ll find on our menu is the desserts! We are now serving White Chocolate Bread Pudding, Chocolate Scoop Cake, and Seasonal Fresh Baked Pie.
We couldn’t be happier to have Chef Joshua on our team, and we look forward to rolling out the new dinner and brunch menu to all three Portico locations in the near future!
