There’s a new kid on the block, and no it’s not a middle-aged man trying to get his singing career back. Did you know the New Kids on the Block are still touring?

But we digress.

Portico is now offering two new beers from New Belgium Brewery: Fat Tire and Sunshine Wheat. Both drinks are great for cooling off from the heat of the upcoming spring and summer. Our friends at New Belgium have hooked us up with Bomber bottles, which means you get 22 ounces of this delicious brew!

Fat Tire is a perfectly balanced amber ale that’s great for drinking with friends or sipping with your favorite Portico burger or steak. If you like Abita Amber or Shiner Bock, you’ll thoroughly enjoy a tall glass of Fat Tire. It’s malty with a perfect balance of hops, and a crisp sweetness that is sure to please the pallet.

Sunshine Wheat is a filtered wheat beer that is great for cooling off after a hot day. Because it’s filtered, it has a lighter body than most unfiltered wheat beers (think Blue Moon), making it a great thirst quencher. Sunshine Wheat has a light citrus flavor that pairs well with fish and chicken dishes, like our Mahi Sandwich or the Chicken Skewers.

In today’s episode of Portico Presents, Jeremy, bartender at Portico Ruston, shows you how to make the Apple Melon Martini.

The Apple Melon Martini

Ingredients:

• 2 oz. apple vodka
• 2 tbs. watermelon
• 2 tbs. apple syrup
• Squeeze of lime

Shake and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a slice of lime.
