We have TWO DELICIOUS shrimp and grits-style items on our menu! And since Shrimp and Grits is a dish known for it’s variety for taste and family recipes, we wanted to take a minute to explain the difference between our own Shrimp and Grits dishes.
Shrimp and Grits: The Appetizer
Portico owners, Stephen and Kenny, wanted a shrimp and grits appetizer that wasn’t just a knock-off of the classic Southern entree. While brainstorming with the Portico crew, one of the Portico Managers suggested putting a jumbo shrimp inside a ball of grits and then frying! The end result? A best selling appetizer!!
So, the next time you’re craving Shrimp “in” Grits, we hope you’ll try one of our best selling menu items…Shrimp and Grits (located under Small Plates)! Creamy asiago cheese grits, stuffed with sautéed shrimp, hand battered, deep fried and topped with a mushroom & roasted red pepper cream sauce! MMM-mmm slap-yo-momma-good and for only $6.99!
Shrimp and Grits: The Main Dish
However, if you’re searching for your traditional Shrimp and Grits, don’t fret! You can find “Low Country Shrimp” under Big Plates.
Don’t be fooled, this is not just a larger version of the appetizer. The jumbo shrimp are sautéed in a light cream sauce with bacon, garlic and green onions and served over your choice of creamy cheese grits or twice baked mashed potatoes. Also served with your choice of one side item.
