To explore the history of Portico’s Shrimp Massey, we have to start at it’s inception. Like most of our menu items, this recipe has a history that begins around family, friends, and fun. Our now famous Shrimp Massey comes from a family friend and his wife, Joel & Diette Massey. This is one of those dishes that always seemed to appear anytime we had a gathering…especially on GAME DAY! It has been a staple of our crew for many years, and Diette was kind enough to share the recipe! We began making it at our own family gatherings, and the rest is history! In honor of our friends, The Masseys, you can find the ‘Shrimp Massey’ with the other appetizers under the Small Plates section on our menu.
So what’s in the Shrimp Massey? GRILLED, JUMBO, BACON WRAPPED SHRIMP stuffed with CREAM CHEESE, FRESH BASIL and JALAPEÑOS…a true symphony of flavors!
Why we think you’ll love it as much as we do: The Shrimp Massey has a nice, seared crunch with the first bite of savory bacon…a slight spice from the jalapeños follows, balanced with a sweetness and the smooth texture of the cream cheese. The Shrimp Massey is served with a sweet poppy seed dipping sauce making it a delectable union of sweet and spicy, soft and crunchy! If you haven’t tried it yet, it really is a MUST!!
